Go to sectionNumerous campaigns aimed at water care are circulated through media and social networks. It is that the concern about the lack of water resources increases every day, even more so taking into account the forecasts that notice high temperatures and low rainfall.
Specialists have agreed to call this water crisis in a situation that came to stay. That is why the Water Observatory was recently created in Mendoza. Entities such as the General Department of Irrigation , the Provincial Authority of Water and Sanitation, municipalities that water treatment and distribute water to its neighbours such as Luján, Maipú and Tupungato, as well as universities and universities and other agencies.
Miguel Mathus Escorihuela, vice-rector of the University of Mendoza, valued the creation of the organization. However, he warned the need to implement measures from the Observatory that contribute to the responsible care and management of water.
“The steps must be taken to ensure that the bodies that have subscribed to the act participate actively in the management of the Observatory, because if it will not be a dead body, without action,” he said.
In this regard, he pointed out the importance of critically dialogue from each intervening entity to generate solutions to the “unprecedented crisis”. “ We have to avoid the deplorable effects that will occur,” he warned about a possible desertification of the Mendoza soil and its region .
“ We are in a very serious crisis of lack of water and we run the risk of becoming a desert and that is the important thing, working so that does not happen,” he closed.
