TheTrivento wineryawarded the construction of aphotovoltaic plantin the department of Maipu. Thiswill generate 10% of its demand, and will become the largest project in clean sources in the province, in the field of possibilities offered by distributed generation. The company reported that the company specializing in the development of energy solutions from renewable sources,Energe, was awarded the project. This will require an investment of$16.1 million.

Energy Produced

With918 panels, this plant will produce more than505 MWh/yearof clean energy. This represents approximately10%of the demand for its winery located inMaipú,Mendoza, the winery said. The investment, which exceeds $16.1 million, will contribute directly to the environmental goals of the winery by reducing15%itsgreenhouse gas emissions by 2023, the equivalent of planting 606 trees per year.

The targets assumed to contribute toSDG 13 Climate Action also include measures already taken regarding the implementation of an energy saving plan. Prior to the installation of the panels, he arranged initiatives and investments ranging from simple practices, such as reviewing the shutdown of outdoor lighting, to the implementation of theISO 50001standard, which aims to continuously improve energy efficiency.

Energe, a leading company

The project was developed by the Mendoza companyEnerge. This has experience in the implementation ofsolar energy photovoltaicand thermal systems in industrial plants. Even with experiences in the wine sector, of whichTrivento‘s work the of a larger scale.

Mendozais not only the main region Argentine winemaking. Also, due to its climatic characteristics and height, is among the provinces with the highest annual direct solar irradiation —with an average of55-60 kWh/m2day—, according to data of theMinistry of Finance and the Institute of Energy and Development Sustainable.

Distributed generation allows the use offonts renewable, such assun, wind, waterin riverbeds, biomass and others, to generate electricity intended for self-consumption, and in turn inject excess energy into the grid of distribution.

Distributed generation equipment is solar panels, small wind turbines or other technologies that can be installed in industries,SMEs and households, to generate economic savings on electricity bills and contribute to climate change mitigation.
